It's pretty tough in terms of promotion. You have to argue for it very hard

Graduate to consultant level was quite easy, as long as you are exposed to many projects and display your capabilities. The process covered a self assessment, provide client feedback, update CV, manager's approval.

Promotion is generally based on annual review by talking regularly with your manager.

Just with experience, being lower. Also have to prove somewhat a gained level of skill and interactions with builders, without the assistance of managers.

Generic corporate promotion process. Large company, plenty of opportunity for promotions through lower levels at least.

Just experience. Graduate to Engineer = 1.5-2 yrs Engineer to Senior Engineer = 7yrs (and need to be chartered) beyond that I'm not sure

I believe from graduate to engineer can be challenging from what I have heard from people in that area as well as the requirements to be promoted. However, I have also heard that by being charted it will definitely help and allow this to happen faster

Working on weekends and excessive unhealthy levels of overtime. Then the reward in terms of salary package is disproportionate to the effort expended.

I do not have a clue how to move up the company apart from doing my best at the tasks I was given, and use the elapse of time (years of experience) as a tool for negotiation.

I got promoted in probation due to opportunity to promote me and because of my work standard. This role I currently hold will be a role I am in for a while and I am not looking to move further up for the next few years as I'd like experience at all levels. My responsibilities will extend but I do not foresee a promotion. Laboratory structure works a little bit differently to other areas.
